Bangkok is regarded as the best destination for tourists' shopping

Next time you are on a hunt for another travel destination that offers the ultimate shopping experience, look no further than Bangkok. The city has been rated amongst the best for tourist shopping between heavyweights like Dubai and London. According to a survey, conducted by  TripAdvisor Travel site, the most populous city in Thailand, has been rated among the second best for tourist shopping and overall third best in terms of value for money. The survey, which  was conducted among 75,000 people, rated New York as the queen of retail, with Bangkok runner up and Dubai takes  the  third place. The fourth place was awarded to London. 

The survey was divided into nine category- friendliest locals,  friendliest taxi drivers, best taxi services, cleanest streets, ease of getting around,best public transport,best value for money; best for shopping; and safest city.  Bangkok was also awarded the seventh most friendliest locals category. Mexico’s Cancun was voted as the friendliest city ahead of  popular destination like Tokyo, Istanbul, South Africa’s Cape Town, and Croatia’s Dubrovnik. 

PATA: Arrivals to Japan, Myanmar, Cambodia Surge as Asia Posts Solid 5.5% Visitor Growth

International visitor arrivals into Asia between January and September 2012 showed a collective increase of 5.5% year-on-year, according to preliminary results released today by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). During the first nine months of the year, the 4.7% collective growth rate for Northeast Asia was somewhat lower than the Asia average, however this percentage increase translated to around 7.8 million additional international visitor arrivals to the sub-region. Intra-regional flows remained the key force behind this growth in both volume and percentage gain terms for the period. Growing at an average rate of 10% during the three quarters of the year, seven reporting destinations in Southeast Asia collectively showed buoyant increases in visitor arrivals from Northeast Asia with more than 1.3 million additional visitors arriving from that sub-region. Fast growing intra-ASEAN travel demand also boosted growth for the period.

Jet Airways to introduce a second Delhi-Dubai flight effective January 18, 2013

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, will introduce a second service between Delhi and Dubai enhancing its connectivity to the UAE with a day time flight effective January 18, 2013. This will complement the night flight presently operating between the national capital and the financial hub of the United Arab Emirates.

The introduction of this new flight between Delhi and Dubai further strengthens the presence of Jet Airways in the Indo-Gulf sector, making it one of the region's leading carriers. The airline will deploy its new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft, offering twin class configuration of 16 Premiere and 138 Economy seating.

Flight 9W 546 will depart at 1115 hours and arrive Dubai at 1330 hrs (Local Time). On the return leg, flight 9W 545 will depart Dubai at 1425 hrs (LT) and arrive Delhi at 1855 hrs (LT).

Abu Dhabi to promote tourism in India with five-city road show

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) is to begin 2013 with a five-city road show taking in key cities in India as it looks to build inbound tourism from the country , which is now the emirate’s second largest international hotel guest source market.

The authority, together with its trade partner Lama Tours, will lead a 12-member industry delegation representing its attractions, hotels and airline sectors in a five-day whistle-stop promotion taking in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai from January 7-11.

“This is the first time we have included Ahmedabad and this is to leverage the recent launch, by Etihad Airways, of a daily flight from this largest Gujarat city to Abu Dhabi,” said Mubarak Al Nuaimi, International Promotions Manager, TCA Abu Dhabi.

“Improving air access is key to the Indian market and now with Abu Dhabi receiving 124 flights a week from the country, we have capacity to leverage,” said Al Nuaimi. “We also have major events which will appeal to the Indian market, most notably January’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and February’s Gourmet Abu Dhabi culinary festival.
